Ötzi – Archeological Museum
The 5000 year old glacier mummy and his clothes and weapons can be found in the ArchaeologicalMuseum in Bolzano, which is just 50 km away from S. Leonardo.
The museum for archaeology was opened in 1998 and houses not only the man from the ice, but exhibits from the history of South Tyrol from the beginning of the last Ice Age (1500 years before Christ) to the time of Karl the Great (about 800 years before Christ).
A visit to the museum is like a trip back into the past. The models, reconstructions, pictures, videos and interactive media give an entertaining view into the past.
