MuseumPasseier - Andreas Hofer
The MuseumPasseier is situated at Sandhof in S. Leonardo, the home of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer (1767 – 1810).
Andreas Hofer and the Tyrolean rebellion of 1809 are the main focus of the museum with many original pieces and a documentary film displayed in the old barn of the farm.
In the stable there is a collection of folklore items from the Val Passiria (clothes, furniture, art, medicine, customs, farm life, transport, handicrafts personalities etc).
An auditorium gives a chance to listen to music, legends and literature from the valley.
In the gardens, several original buildings from the 16th to 19th century have been reconstructed. You can see a typical farm building, a chapel (1899) and the HolyGraveChurch (1691). The French cemetery, the castel Giovo and the AlmMuseum in Pfistrad are also looked after by the MuseumPasseier.
