The bet
In 1800, on the Sunday after Martini, some farmers met up for a game of cards, the Sandwirt landlord Andreas Hofer, his brother in law Josef Golfer, Josef Thayer, Johann Lanthaler and Brasher under Scooter. During the game Gufler made a bet with Hofer for two year old bulls. Hofer lost the bet and delivered the two bulls to Hofer after Martini Day in 1801.
